Jackie Robinson #42

Jackie RobinsonJackie Robinson is much more than a baseball legend. As the first African American to break the color barrier in Major League Baseball,  Robinson is also considered a civil rights icon who fought for equality among races. Therefore I painted him very colorful in front of a plain, colorless grey backdrop. His legendary uniform number #42 has been retired throughout baseball and Jackie Robinson was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1962. His baseball skills were unmatched at the time, but it was his brave struggle against racism and inequality that is his greatest accomplishment. Acrylic on watercolour cardbord, 45 x 37 cm.
